This safari offers an exciting exploration of two of the largest primate species, featuring incredible trekking experiences in Kibale Forest National Park, where you can observe fascinating chimpanzees, and in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home to the rare mountain gorillas.
Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Kibale Forest National Park
After breakfast, prepare for a captivating drive to Kibale Forest National Park, known as the “primate capital of the world.” Your safari guide will provide insights about the scenery along the way. You will enjoy lunch during the journey while taking in the beauty of Uganda. Upon arrival, check in to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale Forest
Today begins with an early breakfast followed by a forest walk to search for the chimpanzees. This trek will take approximately four hours. After the tracking, you will return for lunch. Along the trails, you may encounter other primates, such as baboons and colobus monkeys, as well as forest hogs, beautiful birds, and butterflies native to Uganda. Afterward, return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
After breakfast, depart for Bwindi National Park, where you will experience the remarkable gorilla trekking activity. Enjoy lunch en route and, upon arrival at Bwindi, check in to your reserved lodge for the night.
Day 4: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Forest
After a delicious breakfast, pack your lunch and water for the day and proceed to the briefing point for your gorilla tracking experience. Make sure you are well-prepared for the trek. After tracking the gorillas, return to your lodge to freshen up, enjoy dinner, and spend the night.
Day 5: Departure to Kampala
Enjoy breakfast before departing from Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. You’ll have lunch en route and a brief stop at the equator monument. Finally, you will transfer to your lodge or to the airport for your flight back home.
